Much has been written about "Hózhó" - the Navajo word loosely translated to mean "Peace, beauty, or harmony". While living among these beautiful native youth as a schoolteacher for some time, I gained a sense of empathy for the dichotomous struggle they courageously face each day as they strive towards true hózhó. This special visual moment was unplanned until moments before taking the photo during a special field trip. The backdrop, a rock monument called "Ears of the Wind", is located in the peaceful back-country of Monument Valley, Utah.
