"They Shall Be One Flesh"
17"x22" Original Charcoal Drawing on Strathmore Paper
The first of all weddings was simple, but sacred: the Lord God Almighty performed it. Our first father, Adam, together with Eve, “the mother of all living”, married. Through all their ensuing transgressions and sorrows, they clave to each other as one - and Jesus, in mercy, redeemed them.
“And…God said, It is not good that…man…be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.” / “And the Lord…caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and…made he a woman, and brought her.” / “And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh.” They were wed. / “Therefore shall a man leave his father and …mother, …cleave unto his wife: and …be one” (poetic, artistic rendition, Genesis 1:18-24)
